Hello, I’m Rebekah
I’m a senior yoga therapist based in West London with over 10 years of experience. My broad range of qualifications, skills and experience provide me with a holistic approach to support my clients on their path towards greater physical and mental wellbeing.
I have been practising yoga for over 25 years and have studied many different styles and traditions of yoga. My experience is reflected in an eclectic style of teaching which focuses on alignment, ease of movement and meditative awareness.
I gave up a career in journalism to teach yoga full-time in 2005. Recognising that one yoga class plan doesn’t fit all, I became curious about how to adapt yoga to students in a class setting – and to the individual. I went on to train as a yoga therapist.
I graduated from Yogacampus’ Yoga Therapy Diploma in 2009 (then in conjunction with the Yoga Biomedical Trust) and stayed in contact with the course’s development. I am now a board member, supervisor and tutor on the course.
My role as your yoga therapist
I have worked as a yoga therapist in London for well over a decade, seeing people with a wide-range of health issues from auto-immune, heart and lung issues to back pain, cancer, anxiety, stress and depression. Trained in pregnancy yoga, I support women with co-existing health concerns as well as those trying to conceive. I also have a special interest in long-term, chronic health conditions.
Having accumulated 100s of hours of experience in my yoga therapy practice, I see clearly the importance of the therapeutic relationship, of a collaborative approach between the client and the therapist.
I also see how helpful it can be to talk through problems and feelings at times in our lives. In 2014, I started studying a five-year MSc Programme in Contemporary Person-Centred Psychotherapy and Applications at the Metanoia Institute.
I have recently finished academic training and am working towards accreditation by the UK Council of Psychotherapy. I am also a student member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
